groundhog

Well, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today. I saw mine today too. It was a wonderfully sunny day here. Marathon had work to do today, so the kids and I ran errands in the morning and then did something different: we ate lunch at our local Waffle House. (Groan….) The kids had coupons for a free waffle that they had gotten from the library’s summer reading program. Makes me so thankful for homemade buckwheat pancakes with real butter and 100% maple syrup. It was certainly a break from our usual routine and diet.

The rest of the afternoon the kids played outside in the sun.

I completed our income taxes (yes, already) yesterday. I’m so glad to have that burden over. I like the new pdf forms available at the irs website. You can save them to your computer and edit them in the pdf format. It gives my homemade tax job a professional look — for whatever that’s worth. Also, when completed, I just print out my forms, sign & mail them, and there is already a saved copy on the computer.

Here’s what’s going on in the house right now. Carman & Sudoku just came in and sat down to watch the first half of Disney’s Johnny Tremain. Rosebud has fallen asleep on my back in the Ergo carrier as I’ve been typing. Doodle is entertaining himself with a Connect Four game. He’s in that awkward stage of needing a nap; but taking a nap (usually for 2-3 hours) often means lying awake for a long time at night before falling asleep. When he doesn’t nap, he goes to bed early and falls asleep almost instantly. The only bad thing about that is he misses out on family time with Daddy in the evenings.

Thanks to Flickr’s Chrislrmo for the groundhog pic.
